Day 2: Early report: Most Danversport homes suffered 'minor' damage

r On the far side of Bates Street, about 250 feet from the blast, the three homes had only mild damage. They did far better than the homes closer and farther from the explosion.

r On the close side of Riverside Street, about 350 feet from the blast, one home was listed with major damage, one with moderate damage and one with mild damage.

r On the far side of Riverside Street, about 500 feet from the explosion, the blast damaged a weight-bearing wall in the center of the home. An adjoining house fared even worse.

In short, homes twice as far away sometimes took a worse beating.
